So I started this as a super rough left-handed sketch loosely based on some content/imagery in an episode of the X-Files I was watching at the time. It was just a really quick little doodle but I kind of liked the general layout and concept, so, it kind of sat and waited while I worked on The Return of Spring. But then I finished that and so I grabbed the sketch and futzed with the line art until I didn't hate it 100% (like, 90% now) and cringed over my bad perspective and changed my loose idea of it being a girl into a boy or possibly androgynous and sexless humanoid creature I don't even know you can't see any junk so I leave that to your imagination:
Anyway, this was like, I don't know...3/4 anatomy/color/perspective study and me trying (and failing) to figure out how butts work, 1/4 me drawing something fun and bloody.
I had another appointment with my doctor last Friday.
It was well timed. The Sunday previous, my shoulder had started hurting kind of a lot, like I had a really nasty kink in it that I couldn't work out. Long story short, sleeping on it helped and my position in my chair at work seems to help, but doing most other things seems to irritate it, but then it went away for three days but then it came back on Friday morning right before I went to the doctor and he said, "Congratulations! You win more tendinitis!" (no, he did not say it like that. He is not that chill. He shrugged more with his words and said 'so I think you have an inflamed rotator cuff, which is more tendinitis.' I would have liked it much more if he said it the way I did.)
Anyway, there are two points to this. 1) the fact that I have tendinitis in my shoulder makes exactly zero sense. I do nothing repetitive or strenuous with my shoulder. So...maybe it IS being caused by something else? 2) Where as the tendinitis in my hands hurts mostly not at all, and is pretty much just stiff, when my shoulder gets bad it feels like there are fire and knives and reality television inside of it. I am trying to get some good pain meds from my doctor but trying to call them during their business hours when I'm at work all day is...challenging. Luckily, during the work week, it bothers me less, 'cause of something about my work chair position. Unluckily, most of the time I'm not at work when I actually need the pain medication is time they won't be there. So I need to get this sorted.
Nothing else new or exciting happening in my art life -- or my regular life-- at the moment. But I did make you some bloody pretty naked art. Don't say I never gave you nuthin'.
