By George I Think I've Got It

Fiddled a little more with the final product tonight, made a couple of intentional changes and had a couple of happy accidents and ended up with an image that was enven, after a couple very small tweaks, print size, and ready to submit (though I'm holding off until morning when people are actually awake). 

And...I finished it without drawing anything tonight. Hmm. Maybe I'll pull out one of the other concept sketches and try working up a simple, undetailed image? Alternately, I could go to bed at a decent hour. (Before the sun rises, that is.) 

(later) HAHAHA it's been posted for an hour and hasn't gotten a single note. Always the way, right? Let me go draw a really subpar doodle so it can become the most popular thing I've ever posted.

Almost Done

I got some more work done on this last night but by the time I wrapped things up it was about 4:30am so I just went to bed. I got my shading finished and added some darkness and texture to the background, and then I started working on the frame...but I'm not SURE I like the way it is looking with the lettering and decoration -- it feels kind of busy?--so, I may try a different direction. I'll pull it up and play with it tonight. 

Tonight's quickie update

I meant to get more work done but well i bought food and so I got distracted by the fact that I had food in my house for the first time in two weeks and so I made a grapefruit avacado salad and ate...most of it. And other things too. Anyway, my point is that I got about half of my shading on this done but for reasons of which I shall not speak, the rest will wait until tomorrow. 

I just want to state for the record...

...that wine barrels are a pain to draw. Because they aren't quite cylinders. Just almost. But enough not to just make everything a real pain and really likely to just look...off. 

That said, I got the color and shading done for my background wine barrels tonight. And the flat colors in my foreground. Almost done. Still have to figure out just how I'm going to frame the edges, since I'm going to have the background cropped and some of the foreground outside of the cropped area. And I think I may want to throw a texure over this one. But if that doesn't take too long, I may even have time to squeeze in a quicky of one of the other compositions that I liked.
